We currently hold 3 certifications regarding to products: MSC, DS and FOS. Every certification involves a responsibility, as we must ensure that the supply chain of the raw material is respected (we must be able to prove it through documentation, either in an internal audit, from the client or from the certifier itself).

MSC Fisheries Standard (“At SBØ® we do our bit for the care of the oceans, that’s why we market fish caught under MSC sustainable capture principles”):

Sustainable fisheries
A sustainable fishery finds the balance between the amount of fish caught and the amount of fish left until the next season to reproduce.

Dolphin Safe certification is the guarantee that the fish has been caught without harming or killing dolphins.

This guarantees the prohibition of casting nets on dolphins or other species in the surroundings. It puts an end to the intentional netting of dolphins and, in addition, commits fisheries to:

  • Not to use nets that catch other species during their operations.
  • The release of turtles caught accidentally.
  • Not to participate in shark finning activities. All bycatch will be released alive.
  • Incorporate devices to prevent birds from approaching hooks.
  • Do not intentionally shoot, spear, sting or harm marine mammals in any way.

Friend of the Sea is currently a project of the World Sustainability Organization, an international trademark in the humanitarian and environmental conservation mission.
